KATHMANDU, JUN 20 - A 5.4 magnitudeearthquake struck Rukum district at 6:08 pm on Saturday. This is the first quake above 5 magnitude to hit the country after the 7.9 magnitude earthquake of April 25.
The damage in the area due to the quake has not been known yet. National Seismological Center informed that the epicenter of the quake was near Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve in Rukum district.
The center also informed that this was a fresh quake and not an aftershock of the Great Quake. Fresh quakes have been recorded in Humla and Udaypur after the Great Quake but this was the first quake above 5 magnitude recorded in the country after the Great Quake of April 25.
