KATHMANDU, JUN 18 - Minister of State for Labor and Employment, Tek Bahadur Gurunghas reaffirmed that the Ministry will not backtrack from its recent decision not to send Nepali migrant workers to six Gulf countries and Malaysia without free visa and ticket.
Talking to RSS on Thursday, Minister Gurung dismissed the news that Prime Minister Sushil Koirala had directed him to take back the decision that the Ministry would only issue work permits after ensuring that the migrant workers are given free air tickets and visa to the respective labour destinations.
"The PM had called me to enquire about the 'free-visa-free-ticket' decision after some foreign employment entrepreneurs had met him to express their dissatisfaction over the decision," clarified Gurung, adding,"The PM also praised my effort, saying I had made a good decision."
"A free-visa and free-ticket for the migrant workers is the right of the aspiring workers. The Ministry had reached the decision, albeit late, to endorse the rights of the migrant workers," argued Minister Gurung. RSS
